Ecosystem Ponds "Water Gardens"
Water Features and Ecosystem Ponds, also called “water gardens”, add beauty and value to your property. Ecosystem ponds mimic what you find in nature. These self-sustaining water gardens require very little to keep them clean and beautiful. The soothing flow of water and colorful koi fish enhance your yard, drawing in both birds and friends to come and enjoy the delights of this water paradise.
Aquatic plants expand the beauty of your pond, while benefitting your pond’s ecosystem. They absorb excess nutrients, helping the water quality. This gives you the opportunity to enjoy plants and flowers that you would not normally see in your garden. Butterflies and other beneficial insects will come and nectar on the flowers. Birds will play in the shallow stream and drink from the cool, clean waters.
Crystal clear water, koi fish and living plants are all part of a water garden escape where you can relax and entertain your family and friends.

Anatomy of an Ecosystem Pond
Ecosystem ponds are all-natural and low-maintenance. They work with Nature, not against it. When the correct pieces of the ecosystem are in place, the pond provides a balanced environment where fish, plants and natural bacterias can thrive and benefit each other. Here is a list of each element of this amazing ecosystem:
Skimmer (mechanical filter): This is where it all starts. The surface of the water is drawn into the skimmer where floating leaves and debris are filtered out of the pond. Without the skimmer these organic materials will accumulate on the bottom of the pond.
BioFalls® (biological filter): After the water runs through the skimmer it is then pumped back into the pond through the BioFalls® where beneficial bacterias remove excess nutrients that can feed algae or cause the build-up of harmful chemicals.
Pumps: As the heart of the pond, the pump circulates the water and keeps it moving through the skimmer and then out the BioFalls®. This stimulates good oxygen levels and keeps the whole system running.
Rocks and gravel: The surface of the rocks and gravel create a place for beneficial bacteria to grow. These bacterias break down excess nutrients and dissolved organic debris that settles at the bottom of the pond. This helps maintain quality water for the fish and prevent an algae imbalance.
Fish: Koi fish are great pets and bring beauty and enjoyment to the pond. They bottom feed on the pond floor and help control string algae.
Plants: They provide a very effective and natural filtration for the pond. As they feed on the excess nutrients in the pond they eat up the food source that string algae needs to grow. They are great for the health of the ecosystem within the pond. Not only are they great filters but they give the pond a tremendous amount of beauty and color.

WATER FEATURES, A SIMPLE BUT PERFECT WAY TO ADD BEAUTY
Water Features and Decorative Fountains

Pondless Waterfalls
These are simply a re-circulation waterfall and/or stream without the presence of a pond. Have the sweet sound and aesthetic of falling water with less maintenance and it's safer for small children than a pond.
